Emily Barletta inspired me learn crochet. Before the holidays, struggling with what to get for my mother who wants nothing, I was scouring the Internet for the perfect gift and came across Emily’s work. In an attempt to impress the Mother Crafter I promptly sat down in front of YouTube to learn how to make these lovely amoeba-like pieces of wall art. After a failed attempt at knitting in the round I realized the power of the crochet hook. I used green wools to appeal to my mother’s botanical background and I gave up after making about 80 of the dome shapes but I think crocheting will be in my life for a while now.
